Android 1.6 was just released to dev phones, and while you may not have a suitably configured handset to run it, YouTuber arsenito84 does. He's installed the latest version on his T-Mobile myTouch 3G and was kind enough to create this nine minute video showing every tiny little tweak made to the OS. There's not much in the way of presentation updates, most changes going on behind the scenes, particularly when it comes to performance. Those improvements are definitely noticeable when it comes to scrolling through apps, but the new Android Market is also on display, and the photo and video capturing has been improved. Why, the phone even does a fine job of loading up this very website, though scrolling is less than smooth. Still no firm word on when your average user will be able to get their Donut on, but if earlier reports are to believed it could be within a month.

Rising between Javea and its neighbouring town, Denia, and lying only a few hundred metres from the coast, is the 750 metre high promontory and nature reserve of Montgo.

Walkers and nature lovers will find a rich diversity of flora and fauna and can enjoy spectacular views across the wide bay and inland. Approaching Javea the Montgo bears a resemblance to a gigantic elephants' head.

Javea is sheltered on either side by two rocky headlands, Cabo la Nao and the Cabo de San Antonio and is protected from wintry northern winds by the Montgo. In and around Javea has more recorded annual sunshine than anywhere else in Spain and is considered by the World Health Organisation to be one of the healthiest places in the world.

Javea's benign climate has made it hugely popular with people from all over Northern Europe who come to Javea and the surrounding area to liveor on holiday.

Like so many Costa Blanca villages and towns on the coast, the old quarter lies back from the sea and small fishing port as a protection against pirates and raiders in times gone by.

Originally surrounded by a protective wall, some of which remains, the narrow streets and stone buildings retain much of the atmosphere of a medieval Spanish village with the late 14th century Church of Sant Bartolome at its centre.

One of the only Parador Nacional Hotel's on the Costa Blanca is situated here, for those who are not familiar, these are state owned hotels that offer remarkably good value in food and accommodation to a very high standard. The 'Arenal' is where most of Javea's night life takes place. A bewildering number of bars and restaurants line the promenade and streets behind and in the summer months many will have nightly entertainment and live music.

Orange groves abound on the plains surrounding Javea and several excellent restaurants worth a short drive out offer excellent cuisine and value.

If a critical piece of software is not working properly like a Firewall Program it can be uninstalled and reinstalled via the Run as ... command. Revo Uninstaller does a thorough job in uninstalling. For downloaded programs not on CD, move the executable (.exe) file to a SHARED DOCUMENTS folder or USB drive. Now, reboot into the Administrator Account, create tm net broadband Restore Point as a safety net, disconnect the Internet Modem cable if uninstalling a Firewall, and uninstall the software that is not performing properly. Next, reboot back to the Limited User Account. To install in the XP Limited User environment the Run as ... command is used. This command says I am installing to the current User Account but I want to use the privileges of another account to do it.

Locate the program's icon or executable file to be installed and Right-Click on it. In the pop-up menu Left-Click on the Run as... option. In the window that appears Left-Click the Radio button for the Administrator Account, enter the password and Left-Click OK. The installation will start as normal and complete all the questions. You may need to re-connect the Modem Internet cable at this point. Disconnecting the cable is only a precaution while a Firewall is not fully functional. Use this same procedure to install any other programs you need and import data from the back-ups previously created once these Programs are running on the Limited User Account.

To install from a CD the trick is to hold the SHIFT key while placing the CD or DVD in the player. Hold for up to a minute until the whirring sound stops. This should stop the auto-start. If the CD still starts once you release it, go ahead and cancel out. Now, use Explore or My Computer to navigate to the root directory of the CD. Locate the Setup or Install file. It may be named after the Program. Once the installation file of the CD is located use the previous paragraph instructions for using the Run as... option. Good going, for you this is a one time challenge, but for the criminal element this is now a permanent hassle! The final part will give some extra tips for using this account on a daily basis and some benefits you will experience.

It's probably a bit premature to sound the death knell for Nokia's current generation of the N-Gage platform, but it certainly doesn't bode well that they've wound down operations at the Vancouver, British Columbia-based studio responsible for many games stretching back to N-Gage's origins. We should see the big software vendors like IBM, SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft jockeying for position as their customers begin XBRL reporting rollouts. However, it will be some time before we see consolidation in this marketplace. Even though XBRL has been around since the late 90's, it's only the recent SEC mandate and to a lesser degree, the roadmap for adoption of the IFRS standard, that is fueling the current interest in XBRL reporting. (NOTE: I'm not endorsing any of the companies I'm mentioning in this article. I'm just providing them as examples of the vendors in this marketplace.)

XBRL integration is fundamentally a three-step process. Import/extend a taxonomy (a business rules data dictionary) which creates the XBRL "tags" for your reporting structure; run your data through the tagging process, making use of your taxonomy; finally, render the data in a user-readable format.

The XBRL vendors have created three automated off-the-shelf products to help you complete these steps with minimal pain:

1. Taxonomy Designer - which provides a user-friendly online interface to allow you to build, import, and extend reporting taxonomies. This is your "tagging" tool. And there are a wide range of these tagging tools out there. You can even find a free one if you know where to look. I recommend you purchase a Taxonomy Designer that has drag-and-drop capability and allows you to import and extend a base taxonomy that is downloadable from the Internet or provided to you by an associated company or regulatory body. Make sure this tool also comes with built-in taxonomy validation at both the base and extension level.

2. Processing Engine - which uses your taxonomy to essentially map the conversion of reporting data from text, CSV, Excel, HTML, XML, etc. format into XBRL. I suggest purchasing an engine that provides for two-way conversion. So starting with XBRL, you can convert back to whatever source you began with, or to another standard format. Look for an Engine with built-in data validation functionality or make sure that data validation comes bundled with your Report Builder (next step), i.e., to flag unbalanced accounts. This will save you a lot of manual effort and frustration.

3. Report Builder - allows you to render (display) XBRL "instance" documents", or individual financial reports in a user-friendly format for the web, in PDF, or to MS Excel or Word formats, etc. Again, this requires your taxonomy as input, along with the report data, in order to render the report in a format that people can read. These report builders differ quite a bit in terms of functionality. Some provide web rendering capability only; some render in multiple formats computer network maintenance Word, Excel, and PDF; others provide parameter-driven comparison capability. Be clear on the functionality you need. This puts you in a position to negotiate the price of the tool you finally select.

When speaking with the XBRL vendors, categorize each one's strengths. Some may be better on the reporting side, while others may have more feature-rich processing engines. Some products require more IT integration than others. As I evaluate these tools I also consider how user-friendly they are and who in the company is going to be working with them. For example, Taxonomy Design tools vary greatly in terms of their ease-of-use. XBRL is pretty cryptic. Finding an intuitive easy-to-use tool can make working with this XML-based language that much simpler and faster to implement, especially for end-users that don't have an IT background.

Along with the technology components described above, you'll also need the glue to pull the pieces together. I suggest you hire a reputable Systems Integrator or consulting firm to help you develop a roll-out plan, support you through the vendor selection process, provide integration services, training services, and help you test and deploy this new reporting standard. Many clients that I have worked with put risk minimization at or near the top of their selection list - the good integration companies have depth of knowledge in technology, have practical experience in the financial services sector, and understand reporting systems from a technical and end-user perspective - they'll help you mitigate your risk with this new reporting standard.

In my follow-up article, I'll continue with a discussion of the other class of XBRL consumer - regulators or other organizations that collect reporting data and have to pull it all together. Their roadmap to success is quite different than that of individual companies.
