Forgotten Lands - First Colony Game Review

All true leaders have great responsibilities behind their backs, but takes great pleasure too knowing that their nation is thriving in existence. In the Forgotten Lands: First Colony game, you get to take the role of that leader as you try to build a civilization from scratch, and lead your people into prosperity and greatness too on the way.

Forgotten Lands: First Colony tells the story of how a group of people had just appointed you as their new leader to bring them peace and prosperity once again. You see, even though all had benefited for centuries on the current land you're living in, it still can't hide the fact that all the resources in the area are already nearing depletion from daily use. Eventually, you have to find another place to settle the colony, and the Greensville Islands can be this future settlement that you've been looking for.

The mechanics of the game starts with a single building - the Town Hall. In this building, you can hire workers, merchants and other specialists like scouts and defenders to start populating the land. The basic worker units can then build other structures like farms and lumber mills to encourage prosperity and production to support your people, and afterwards, hire more people to populate these structures as you continue to expand your territory. The idea is much like the Warcraft games, but now, compressed into a small casual game download for you to enjoy.

The whole flow of the game is up to you to decide, however, for each level in Forgotten Lands: First Colony, you have to take into account your basic goals for each level too. While the basic gameplay is for you to complete all your level missions before the time expires, this does not mean that you're too restricted in what you can accomplish during the course of your adventure. For example, if you're tasked to gather a set amount of wood, there are a variety of ways to do so. Building lumber mills or trading gold for wood in a market will complete the same task, and this basically means that there's much freedom on the part of the player when it comes to finishing each level.

Video: Android 1.6 Donut gets jazzy walkthrough, performance and Market tweaks on display
Android 1.6 was just released to dev phones, and while you may not have a suitably configured handset to run it, YouTuber arsenito84 does. He's installed the latest version on his T-Mobile myTouch 3G and was kind enough to create this nine minute video showing every tiny little tweak made to the OS. There's not much in the way of presentation updates, most changes going on behind the scenes, particularly when it comes to performance. Those improvements are definitely noticeable when it comes to scrolling through apps, but the new Android Market is also on display, and the photo and video capturing has been improved. Why, the phone even does a fine job of loading up this very website, though scrolling is less than smooth. Still no firm word on when your average user will be able to get their Donut on, but if earlier reports are to believed it could be within a month.

Not In Debt, Pam Says She's Got Money In The Bank

We recently reported that Baywatch alum Pamela Anderson was in mayjah debt, to the tune of $1.2 million dollars. astound broadbandll, Pammie wants everyone to know that those rumors are just plain crazy. Her management has even gone so far as to release a statement denying the reports, saying:These reports are crazy and I cannot believe

There's been a lot ofbuzzabout the CECT 3G.I've been getting a lot of emails about it. Some of the common questionsare: "how does the i9 3G compare to the iPhone? Which Streamyx better? Why would I buythe clone 3G rather than the iPhone?" I'll answer these questions in the following article.

Things That Both Phones Share: Before I get to the differences, I want to first go over the similarities. Obviously, people who are considering either of these phones are likely attracted to the finger touch interface and the stream lined functioning that houses everything within one phone. Both phones have the large, touch screen, the flow touch feature that allows you to scroll, edit, touch up, and flip through documents using only your fingers. Both have Bluetooth, media players, digital cameras and web cam, and quick, internet football web browsing as well as messaging, email, broadband speed meter EMS, and MMS.

The phones look very similar to one another. The CECT version now has the rounded back that defines Apple's 3G version. Now that I've discussed the similarities, onto the major differences.

Dual Sim, ARemovable Battery, FM Radio,And Shake And Tilt: One of the biggest draws to the clone is that it has two sim slots. This allows you to have two phone numbers or plans, including pre paid or pay as you go.Some people will use this feature to get them out of a monthly plan. They'll use one slot for a cheap talk plan and one slot for a cheap pre-paid data. This way, they are only paying for what the use.

Some do use this to have two numbers. The most common configuration is having one number for business and one number for personal use. I've actually had people tell me that they'll give their kids or significant other one number, but this truly isn't necessary because you can give each person their own ring tone so that you can identify them that way. You can also assign a photo of the person with each call, so there's no question as to who is calling you.

The clone also has the shake and tilt feature. You can change or advance songs, video, wall papers, photos, the web, etc. by just shaking the phone. You can tilt it at a 180 degree angle to take the pictureto wide screen.

Another small advantage tothe clone is that you canremove or change the battery yourself. You don't have to pay the manufacturer to do it for you.

Applications And Icons: The icons on these phones are pretty similar. In fact, one big selling point to the CECT 3G is that unlike previous clones, it hasten pages of icons -pretty much allowing you tohave an icon for any feature that is available onthe phone. Examples areYou Tube, weather, maps, stocks, video, photos, etc. On the down side, there's no Apple apps store with the clone.

Price: Perhaps the biggest difference between the two is the price. You can get a clone in the low $100 range, but more than that, you aren't stuck with a very costly contract that's going to drain you every month, whether you use all the minutes or Internet or not. You can go with any network that uses GSM sim cards including pre paid. AT&T's GoPhone and T Mobile To Go work fine with this. Depending on how much usage you need, it's totally possible to get by with less than $20 per month, including Internet - which I think is very good considering all of the features.

What's The Bottom Line? Which Is Better?: Which phone is better for you truly depends on what you want in a phone. If you're dead set on the iPhone and the app store is a big draw for you, you might want to just bite the bullet and spring for the real deal. But, if you just want iPhone technology without the high price, the CECT 3G is a really High Speed Broadband alternative that countless people, myself included, are quite happy with.

Qi Smartbook U1000 rolls with WinMo, few buttons

By definition, the Qi Smartbook U1000 isn't a smartbook. It's more like a touchscreen MID, but we'll let the semantics slide (just this once). Based on a 624MHz CPU, Windows Mobile 6.1 and a 5-inch touch panel (800 x 480), this Chinese device is also equipped with WiFi and a mysterious camera 'round back. Sadly, that's about all we know, but dialup isp who find themselves in Shenzhen should definitely check it out. Just be wary of those KIRFs -- we hear they're kind of prevalent over there.
